The Faculty of Media at Middle East University hosted military and strategic expert Nidal Abu Zaid for a specialised academic seminar entitled ‘Analysing media discourse within military and political methodology’. The session was conducted for students enrolled in the Media Discourse Analysis course at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
Mainly, the seminar aimed to highlight the methodological intersections between media discourse analysis and political and military realities. It further demonstrated how analytical tools may be employed to gain a greater insight into prevailing discourses and to forecast future trends based on current media and political data.
The event also featured extensive interactive discussions with students, which served to enhance their critical and analytical capabilities. This initiative aligns with the Faculty of Media’s objective to prepare informed media professionals capable of conducting rigorous academic readings of media discourse and comprehending its various political and strategic dimensions.
