Amman: The Resident Representative of the Economic and Cultural Office of Taipei (Taiwan) to Jordan, Mr. Ali Ying, was impressed by the advanced level of equipment and infrastructure at Middle East University, and lauded the role played by the university in preparing a generation of qualified individuals to face the requirements and challenges of the modern era.
The delegation was greeted by the President of the University, Prof. Salam Al-Mahadin, the Dean of the Faculty of Information Technology, Prof. Mohammad Atir, and the faculty member Dr. Sadiq Al-Suhaimat.
The resident representative expressed his gratitude for the efforts of Middle East University in promoting academic cooperation at the international level, emphasising the readiness of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office to support initiatives that contribute to strengthening relations between the two sides, whether through joint academic programmes or cultural initiatives that enhance understanding between the two peoples.
In her response, Prof. Al-Mahadin emphasised the significance of international collaboration in the development of academic and research systems, highlighting the university’s dedication to fortifying its partnerships with leading international institutions to achieve its aspirations in leadership and innovation.
Dr. Atir further elaborated that this visit marks a significant step towards activating strategic partnerships with Taiwan, a nation that is a prominent centre of technological innovation and advanced education.
During the course of the meeting, the two parties engaged in discourse on a number of subjects, including the expansion of horizons in the domains of student and academic exchange between MEU and Taiwanese universities, as well as the potential for cooperation in the sphere of scientific research, with a particular focus on sectors of paramount importance such as advanced technology, artificial intelligence, and sustainable energy.
The delegation concluded their visit with a tour of the academic and technical capabilities provided by the university, including the specialised laboratories in the Faculty of Information Technology.
