Amman: The Society of International Energy Engineers (SIE) – Jordan Branch awarded the representative of the Middle East University branch, Dr. Samer Asaad, Head of the Renewable Energy Engineering Department, for his exemplary contributions to the advancement of renewable energy education during the academic year 2024-2023. Dr. Asaad’s dedication to fostering technical awareness and a sustainable vision among students has been instrumental in equipping them with the skills and knowledge to navigate future challenges.
This commendation was announced at a meeting of the boards of directors of the student branches of Jordanian universities, in the presence of the representative of the Energy Efficiency Programme of the United States Agency for Development (USAID), Engineer Saed Al-Salaymeh, and Samer Zwaida, former president of the American Society of Energy Engineers (ASEE).
A number of members of the Middle East University student branch were duly honoured, namely: Maram Khoury, Yazan Abdul Rahim, Ren Shawish, Jana Salibi, and Sarah Al Kaoud were honoured for their exemplary leadership and organisational skills in spearheading a series of pioneering events and activities that have significantly contributed to the dissemination and promotion of renewable energy culture, extending beyond the academic community and influencing a qualitative shift in awareness regarding the paramount importance of sustainability and its pivotal role in the global energy future.
