Amman: The Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Middle East University, Dr Yaqoub Nasereddin, presided over the graduation ceremony of a distinctive cohort of students from the Bachelor’s, Master’s and PhD programmes hosted at MEU. The ceremony was attended by the Vice President of the University of Bedfordshire, Professor Adrian Deutsch, the President of MEU, Prof. Salam Al-Mahadin, and the Vice President of MEU, Prof. Ahmad Al-Louzi.
The graduation ceremony, which was attended by a number of members of the university’s Board of Directors and Board of Trustees, relevant personalities, parents of the graduates, included students from the International Business, Computer Security and Cybercrime programmes, the Global MBA programme and the Business and Media PhD programmes.
In this regard, Dr. Adrian stated that this achievement should not be viewed as a mere milestone, but rather as the commencement of a new phase in the students’ educational and professional journey, given the necessity to adapt to the evolving world around us. He emphasised that the students have demonstrated commendable performance. During the study phase, students are expected to demonstrate awareness and boldness in shaping their future. It is important to note that success is not solely determined by external factors, but rather by an individual’s ability to align with their personal values and pursue a path of confidence and determination.
In her remarks, Prof. Al-Mahadin noted that a few weeks ago, Middle East University had celebrated five years of joint programmes with its partners from British universities. This ambitious vision was established with the support of the royal family, specifically His Majesty King Abdullah II and the then British Prime Minister Theresa May, in the form of the ‘Jordan: Growth and Opportunity – London Initiative 2019’. The London Initiative 2019: Growth and Opportunity.
Al-Mahadin also highlighted that the university’s graduates, in collaboration with the University of Bedfordshire, exemplify the optimal outcomes of an international education approach. They possess essential skills that are highly sought after in today’s labour market, including multicultural awareness, self-learning ability, flexibility, global openness, and the capacity to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Additionally, they demonstrate the ability to collaborate with people from diverse backgrounds.
Ruba Dajani, an alumna of the institution, delivered a speech on behalf of the undergraduate graduates. In her address, she observed that as the graduates celebrated their achievements, they could not help but remember with deep sorrow those who did not have the privilege of pursuing their education. In the context of the ongoing conflicts and wars that afflict our world, innumerable individuals have lost their lives, their aspirations, and the chance to complete their education. It is, therefore, our responsibility today to assume the mantle of knowledge that was denied to them and to utilise it to illuminate the pathways of the future and to construct a more equitable and humane world.
“This day is not merely an acknowledgement of individual achievements; it is a testament to the efficacy of determination and collaboration,” stated graduate Osama Majali, emphasising that the graduates have undergone phases characterised by rigorous dedication, profound deliberations, strenuous endeavours, adversity, and moments of celebration and triumph that signified the culmination of their endeavours.
