AMMAN – A number of Middle East University students participated in a discussion session with H.E. the Prime Minister, Dr. Omar Al Razzaz, titled “The General Budget and the Government’s Priorities”. MEU was invited to participate in the session by the Center for Strategic Studies at the University of Jordan, and other attendees included the ministerial staff from the Royal Cultural Center.
During the session, H.E. Dr. Al Razzaz remarked, “It is vital to outline a clear plan that will lead us towards achieving our economic and financial independence.” He then stressed the need to review the salaries and wages of public sector labourers, and spoke about the government’s duty towards its citizens and the necessity of addressing their complaints. The session was attended by MEU students Emad Ladadweh from the Faculty of Law, Malek Al Khatib from the Faculty of Business, and Suhaib Al Aswad and Suhaib Al Sahouri from the Faculty of Engineering.
H.E. Dr. Al Razzaz also discussed the importance of advancing the health sector, the education sector, and the public transportation sector, stating, “With the allocation of the general budget for 2020, the government aims to decrease taxation levels, promote a general increase in wage rates, and enhance the provision of public services.”
MEU’s participation in such events ensures the achievement of his Majesty King Abdullah II bin Al Hussein’s vision for involving the Jordanian youth in our nation’s political and governmental affairs.
